About Us ABOUT USWe congratulate Tania on being awarded Finalist in the 2011 Western Sydney Awards In Business Excellence. ________________________________________________________________________Tania MacLeod - PrincipalTania’'s Strictly Dancing was established in 1995 and has maintained a consistent growth each year to become one of the most successful and popular schools in the Hills District. Tania MacLeod has over 20 years teaching experience with a Licentiate Teaching Diploma with a Australian Teachers of Dancing Ltd and a Certificate IV Training and Assessment.Tania has recently been appointed position of Examiner with the Australian Teachers of Dancing.Our SchoolTania's Strictly Dancing offers an extensive timetable and wide variety of classes. Classes are conducted in a fun and dynamic manner, encouraging each student to develop their full potential and enhancing their skills by recognizing, promoting and training each individuals strengths and talents.The atmosphere at Tanias Strictly Dancing is positive, friendly and encouraging, with safe dance practice. Students range from those seeking an enjoyable pastime to preparing for a career in dance.Exams are available in ballet, tap, jazz and singing with the Australian Teachers of Dancing Ltd, Glenn Wood Tap and AMEB (Australian Music Examination Board). Exams gauge a students achievement of objectives through a formal evaluation. They provide feedback to parents/ students and assist in the setting of future objectives for achievement.A weekly merit system is offered, both formal and informal, including stickers, awards and prizes. Yearly awards for outstanding effort, achievement, performance, improvement, consistency, attitude, attendance and encouragement are also awarded.Weekly practice sheets are used in private singing and piano classes as well as yearly reports for drama, singing and piano students.Activities include regular eisteddfods (solo/troupe) and community performances. Regular open days/end of year showcases are held for singing, drama and piano studentsActivities Include:Baulkham Hills Australia Day Celebrations.Castle Hill Agricultural Show.Hills Relay for LIfe.Education Expo.Australian Teachers Of Dancing Concert, Competition, Exams and Annual Scholarship.Crestwood Fair (Orange Blossom Festival).Castle Towers. Class Information

Information

Classes are held on weekdays and Saturdays and run during the NSW School terms.

Regular attendance is encouraged to ensure progress and development. All missed lessons are able to be made up on another day/time.

We offer school holiday Performing Arts Workshops in January, April, July and October.

Our classes are graded on age, experience and ability to maximize progress and correct dance technique.

Classes are conducted by qualified, professional and caring teaching staff committed to teaching students correct technique and maximizing each student's potential.

Students are required to attend classes in the studio uniform with hair neat and tidy.

We have weekly encouragement awards in place for junior classes to encourage attendence, improvement, effort and positive attitudes.

Dance

Pre-schoolAn action packed and energetic class designed specifically for pre-school aged children (2 1/2-5 years) as an introduction to music, song, dance and drama. Develops co-ordination, musicality, rhythm, flexibility and imagination. Goals are to: encourage children to have fun and enjoy dance develop rhythm, strength, flexibility, discipline and co-ordination. build self confidence and enhance self image develop social skills through interaction with others.This is the essence of play based learning with the magic and the fun of mime, music and dance.Warm up exercises, creative and exciting activities and captivating with motivating music.Jazz/ Funk/ Hip HopA fun class developing flexibility, co-ordination, fitness, strength and technique. Styles range from those seen in musicals to the current modern styles seen on the latest video clips and pop concerts.Cardio,Stretches, Isolations, Turns, Kicks, Jumps, Floor, Lyrical, Funk, Cabaret and Hip-Hop Combinations included throughout.BalletDevelops poise, posture, co-ordination, musicality and muscular strength building a solid foundation for technique and physical ability.Contemporary DanceA free flowing expressive style of dance blending ballet and modern dance. It builds a strong centre and combines precision leg work with an ease and fluidity of the torso.TapA fun style of dance creating patterns and sounds whilst teaching rhythm and musicality.Musical TheatreA form of theatre combining songs, spoken dialogue, acting and dance.Boys' ClassDynamic and energetic tap/funk/hip hop class to upbeat music.Eisteddfod TroupeFocuses on performance and stage techniques for routines in additional shows, eisteddfod and community events. Solo/Duo/TrioPrivate lessons are available for students wishing to perform in a solo/duo/trio.

Acrobatics and Cheerleading

A dynamic and spectacular sport involving courage, strength, stamina, co-ordination, flexibility and jumping abilities performing routines with the heads, hands and feet of their partners. Students learn to control their bodies in various positions both in the air and on the floor. Students utilise the use of props: hoops, ribbons, balls, ropes and batons in both class and routines.

Zumba

"An explosion of music, dance and energy". Latin inspired, Easy to follow, Calorie Burning, Dance Fitness Party!

Drama

A fun and creative class exploring imagination by working on impulse, interacting with others and gaining confidence through vocal and physical awareness. Class covers speech/ projection, improvisation, mini-scripts/ snippets, character development/ analysis, creative storytelling, stagecraft, script analysis and production techniques.

Singing

Group and private lessons and available (AMEB exams optional). Class focuses on voice technique and performance skills developing intonation (tuning), breath control, vocal tone, vocal resonance (tuning), diction, agility/ range and posture.

Music

We offer private lessons in piano.
